Bar, Duty Free, Restaurant, Cafe and Discos at 9 deck Scotia Prince on Colombo - Tuticorin route

Sri Lankans and Indian’s can now experience world class cruising as “FLEMINGO LINERS” is all set to sail from the Indian shores to Colombo on 13th June 2011. India’s first international passenger ferry service will sail from Tuticorin to Colombo twice in a week initially and will take 14 hours to reach the destination. Flemingo Liners chartered SCOTIA PRINCE ship to run this ferry service between both the countries. This ship has already sailed between Portland and Yarmouth in 2004.

A consortium of Flemingo Duty Free Shop Pvt Ltd and Tradex Shipping Co Pvt Ltd, obtained the license for operating the ferry service between India and Colombo for seven + three years. The 9 deck spacious ship houses 317 well designed cabins that can accommodate 1044 passengers and has world class facilities on board equaling cruise liners. Some of the features on board include:

Very well equipped infirmary. 

The soon to be launched features include casino, drive in drive out facility for cars and cargo vehicles and a duty free shop inside the ship.

SCOTIA PRINCE will have over 40 staff on board to attend to the customer requirements and about 25 ground staff to help with Check-in procedures, immigration, custom procedures and baggage clearance. The ship can take around 300 tonnes of cargo. The 317 cabins include 111 economy rooms, 2 special cabins for physically challenged, 22 deluxe cabins with toilet, 169 deluxe cabins with shower and toilet, 11 first class and 2 suites. The basic economy room comes at an early bird offer of $49 (exclusive of taxes) and $65 (exclusive of taxes) during regular periods. The package includes complimentary dinner. SCOTIA PRINCE will also have live performances by top notch bands and entertainers, in order to let the the guests on board have a varied experience during the journey.

Flemingo Liners will be looking at attracting orders for chartered trips from communities that thrive on trade and business. They will also be looking at attracting corporate groups for conducting team outings on the ship.

Blessed with historical heritage and places of tourist attraction in its surroundings like Madurai and Tirunelveli which vattract a lot of tourists each year, Tuticorin Port could act as a catalyst for the tourism industry. The port is the closest port to Colombo and is also strategically located close to the East – West international sea route. Being an all weather port in Tamil Nadu protected from the fury of storms and cyclonic winds, the port is strategically identified for promotion of tourism.
